The Advocacy team seeks to promote equal justice values by utilising volunteers’ research and communication skills to advocate for change for a variety of causes. The team works with practitioners, interest groups, and community groups who share EJP's values and goals.

Students in the Advocacy team gain practical experience in effective advocacy, engaging in research, constructing a case for change, and presenting that case through an effective platform. Our volunteers are law students who have demonstrated a capacity for high quality advocacy and a passion for using their skills to promote equal justice.

This year, we have two projects running within the Advocacy Team:

Communities Against Alcohol Harm: This project will focus on reducing alcohol harm in our local Auckland communities.

Climate Change: This project, run in conjunction with the Waitematā Low Carbon Network, will target local responses to climate change, with a focus on Auckland Council and various Council-Controlled Organisations.

Lecture with the waitemata low carbon network:

Below we’ve linked a small lecture we created about the role of local government in climate change, and our advocacy there. Check it out to see some of our mahi!
